Loss of a loved one...affect the baby??

Hi all, though this is my second LO I experianced a great loss over the weekend. My aunt of only 66 passed away in her sleep of a heart attack. The last time I was preggo I lost my grandfather but it was not a surprise. Has anyone else experianced something like this while preggo and if so, what affect did it have on the baby? Right now I think LO is fine and I'm going to the doc on Thurs for a regular check up. Just thought I'd ask the group.

Thanks.

  • I'm sorry for your loss.  It shouldn't affect your baby unless you start experiencing severe depression, anxiety, or change in eating and sleeping habits.

  • We unexpectedly and very tragically lost DH's dad when I was 37 weeks pregnant with DS.  It sucked, but we all dealt with it and DS was not affected.

  • I lost two people close to me last week and it was extremely stressful on me. It's made my blood pressure shoot up and now I have to do my blood pressure twice a day for the rest of the pregnancy.

It's tough but i can say i'm doing much better n
