Claritin

I took Jackson to the doctor this weekend for a terrible cold. So I thought. The dr prescribed Claritin for allergies. J is a very active 2.5 year old. He is all boy. But, I swear the Claritin is making him extra hyperactive. He is fighting sleep even more than normal. Has anyone had experience with Claritin causing hyperactivity?

What time of day does he take it and how many times a day? We did Claritin at bedtime for a while, and I didn't notice a big change. Our dr had us switch to zyrtec a few months ago and it seems to be great. He takes it once a day at bedtime.

Antihistimines hype me up! I can't take benedryl at night I'll be up all night long. My niece had the same issue. Give them in the morning,

I take my allergy meds in the morning. Zyrtec has a children's version for ages 2 and up, so it might be worth trying that as well.

I think claritin is non-drowsy so maybe give in the morning---whereas zyrtec will knock most out. That is what our pedi recommended for our environmental allergies.
