What will you LO sleep in?

I apologize for tending to post only when I need answers to a question, but you ladies are so helpful and provide a lot of insight to this FTM. I am curious to know what you ladies plan on doing for sleeping arrangements. We have a crib, but I highly doubt our Baby Girl will use it right away. I want to have her in the bedroom with us the first couple of months. I have mixed reviews about using a cosleeper or bassinet because of the lack of safety regulations on them. I have also heard from others that they used a Pack N Play, swing, or rocker for baby to sleep in.  Advice, thoughts, suggestions, or feedback about your plans is much appreciated. Thanks!

Re: What will you LO sleep in?

  • Our LO will be in a bassinet for a while, we'll also have a rock n play (both hand me downs) so if I find I don't like the bassinet I'll just use that.

  • I would not be comfortable having my babes sleep for any real amount of time in a rocker/swing/rock and play/carseat etc. The positioning just isn't ideal.

We bedshare, but my second fav option is a co-sleeper like Arms Reach. Having the newb cl

  • With DS we used a Pack N Play pulled up next to my end of the bed & will be doing the same with this one. It was easy for me to glance over at him at night (read: stare at him until I passed out from exhaustion) and I could easily reach over and grab

  • This LO will be in our Arms Reach co-sleeper just like DD for the first 5-6 months.  Ours was attached to our bed and never posed a safety concern, it was tremendously helpful during those middle of the night feedings.  Best of luck to you.

  • We will be getting a cosleeper type bed that will sit in between DH and I in the bed that way I can just scoop him out of that. It is enclosed so no chance of either of us rolling over him or anything like that and then we will transition him to the crib

  • We dont have room for a crib. we will purchase graco's day2night sleep system. it is a pack and play that has a separate bassinet/moses basket with its own stand or can be used as part of the pack and play or without the stand. also has a changing statio

  • Our LO will sleep in a pack n play next to our bed for the first 5-6 months.  I did this with DS#1.  I like having him close for my peace of mind.  DS had reflux as well so I could respond quickly when he spit up.

  • LO will be in bassinet first then a crib in it's own room. I figure the bassinet is good because it is light and on wheels so if LO is being difficult I can go to another room so DH can sleep for work. With DS he went in the crib as soon as he came home f

  • We have a bassinet that we will pull up to our bed in the beginning. Depending on how things go, we will transition to the crib in the nursery after a few months or more.

  • I felt we would need a PnP anyways... so we decided that instead of buying both a bassinet and a P2P we'd just get a PnP with the napper feature.

LO will sleep in the PnP in our room for the first few weeks then transition into his own room/cri

  • I find in ironic some people are more comfortable co-sleeping with an infant (SO dangerous) than using a Rock n Play.

To answer the original question, op, we plan to use a bassinet in our room for the first couple months.

  • Newbs are v loud sleepers. They grunt a lot. And I'm a v light sleeper.

We had planned on having DS in the room w us for a couple months, but I was constantly waking up w every noise he made. We moved him to his crib after about a week and w

  • Our plan at this point is for LO to be in the crib in his/her room, which is about 5 steps from my side of the bed.  We are getting a Pack n Play so if for some reason I'm not able to bear having LO in their own room we will probably use the Pack n P

  • We had a bassinet for DS which worked well but I think I'm going to get a co-sleeper this time so that it will be right beside the bed.

  • Pack n play in our room for at least the first 3 to 4 months.  Longer if possible.  Then LO will move into the crib down the hall once we transition DS into his toddler bed <img src="https://community.thebump.com/cs/emoticons/emotion-1.gif" alt="

  • We are also purchasing the day2night sleeper. We plan to use the bassinet for the first month or so then transition LO to his crib.
I'd go to crib right away but I'm super paranoid and I know I'll want to be able to see him.
  • This LO will be in a cosleeper next to our bed. If this LO is anything like his/her sister I imagine he/she will be there for awhile.

We had a PnP set up downstairs for when we needed to set her down.
