Trying to Get Pregnant

Ovulation Question

My husband and I are TTC #2.  We lost our first baby in October of 2012 at 38 weeks, and we feel ready to try for a second child.  For our first, Isaac, we weren't really trying, we just let things happen naturally, and we conceived on our first try.

Like I said, we're TTC #2, but it's a little more frustrating than the last time.  This is our second month of trying.  I decided to take my temp and use an OPK this month.  But...my OPK never showed a positive (I took it once a day for 7 days), and my temps seem to be all over the place.  Does this mean I did not ovulate?  Probably TMI, but last month, I seemed to ovulate more (more cervical mucus), and had the normal symptoms of ovulation (feeling sexy, etc.) But I didn't feel like that this month. Is it possible to not be able to ovulate after having a baby? I mean, I know that I was fertile (since I had a baby), but after having a baby, is it possible to lose your fertility? I know it sounds crazy, but my greatest fear is not being able to have another baby someday.

TIA.

Re: Ovulation Question

  • I am very sorry for your loss.  You may need to take OPKs for more than 7 days.  Keep going with them until you get a positive and a clear temp shift.  It is always possible to have a wonky cycle every now and again, even if you are normall

  • First of all, I'm so sorry for your loss, that is absolutely heartbreaking.

As for your question, cervical mucous doesn't confirm ovulation, and I know for me, I get fertile cm at any point in my cycle.  Were you temping in the months previo

Keep temping and keep using opks. Unfortunately with longer cycles that's all you can do.

What cd are you on? Have you had periods since the birth?

Can you link your chart so mobile users c

  • Firstly, I am so, so sorry about your loss.

It's possible to miss your LH surge by only testing once a day. When I think I might be getting close to a surge I tend to test around 11am and 4pm. As far as temp, I'

The first month I used OPKs and never got a positive so the second month I was more determined.  I tested 2x a day from CD12-CD28 and I got a +OPK on CD26 (I kept testing until my temp shift confirmed O).  Th

  • I did not get my first period until December.  The first was 31 days, and thereafter they were 26 days.  That's how I've had 5 in 6 months.
