OK, so I'm 23 wks and have just really started thinking about birth, mostly due to a class DH and I are in. But I was always that person that said when the time came I'd be the first to sign up for epidural and pain meds, however, the closer we get and the more I think about it the more I think I want to go without.
I guess I just ultimately feel like the epidural would impede my body doing what it should be doing (I've heard lots of stories of labor being slowed down because mom couldn't feel contractions or where the baby was), I just think that this is the one thing my body has been designed to do so why not let it do what it needs to do with no help from me?!
Anyway, I guess my question is this. What techniques have you all used during labor? DH and I went through 2 years of fertility treatments and I found the Circle + Bloom meditations extremely helpful. They have one specifically for child birth and I'm wondering if anyone has gone this route and if it was beneficial to them?
Re: Still decision making
I am still pregnant with my first, so I can't speak to results, but Hypnobabies has really helped calm me. I feel so calm, I sort of zone in and out of sleep. I plan to listen to the CD's during labor. I hope it works. I bought the Hypnobabies package

I didn't do any meditating or hypnobabies type stuff. What I did do was know why I wanted a natural birth, and also understanding the process of labour helped me when things got tough.
Having said that, with both my births I got to a, "Oh God I c

My plan is to do as

Thanks ladies,
i do think some movies will be helpful. Kate do you remember what the epidural video was?
I personally benefited from the Bradley materials. It laid the foundation for me of what normal birth is like, and the variations of normal that are safe. It prepared me to not expect birth to go a particular way, but to understand various possibilitie
