? for those who did the 24 hour urine test

The lab gave me that standard small plastic cup that you leave the urine samples in when you go to the doctor's office to capture my urine, along with the large jug to store it in. Needless to say, at 9 months, I don't have much control when collecting the sample. How much urine are you supposed to collect? I thought all of it, but the cup is too small. Any advice would be greatly appreciated! I'd call the lab, but since I pee every hour, I'll need to go again before they open. TIA!

Re: ? for those who did the 24 hour urine test

  • I've done hundreds of pee samples because Prepregnancy I had chronic UTI's and I have given a full cup as well as like half an inch. Then can test either but generally I aim to give them half the sample cup so they can immerse the strips or whatever they

  • You need to collect ALL your pee for an entire 24hr period for accurate results. Missing a few drops is fine but if you miss a pee session then you need to start over.

  • Yeah.... You need a hat.
  • I was given a big ol bucket dish thing to pee into (It set nicely in toilet seat rim) and then had to pour it into a big orange jug that I had to keep in the fridge.

When I went to turn it in the next day - best believe no one wanted to sit

  • Thanks ladies for all the great info! They had given me the right instructions, so I knew not to take the first morning one, and then collect all the urine, and to keep it refrigerated. I have the big jug too. I just didn't get the "hat" that goes in t

  • You are supposed to collect all of it.  They have always given me a huge plastic tray that sits on the toilet seat to collect and then transfer to the storage jug.
