Toddler bed & getting out

So on Thursday we converted DS's crib to a toddler bed. He slept great that night, only because he was exhausted from not napping. Last night, he was up from 1-3 am. First came out and started playing with his toys. We put him back to bed. Then he asks for water, then he asks for his music, then to be tucked in. Then we started to refuse his requests and he started having a tantrum, which woke up DD. I got up this morning convinced that I was going to change it back to a crib but DH said to give it some more time. I'm sure this is common, but he was SUCH  great sleeper I don't want to jeopardize it. Then again, he is almost three and can't be in his crib forever...Thoughts?

  • If he is almost 3, I would assume he would need to get out to use the bathroom in the middle of the night.  I would do the best you can to teach him to stay in bed, but sadly, it is in their nature to explore.  Locking him in his room would send

  • We have a gate at her bedroom door... so she can't "roam" the house.  I have a video monitor in case she really needs us. I have watched her on the monitor and usually after she realizes it is bedtime she just crawls back into her bed and goes to
