Gah! Usually DH holds baby C while I read to DD and put her down to sleep. By the time I get downstairs, C is usually passed out in his arms and stays that way until we go up to bed. Tonight we started DDs bedtime routine early but didn't even make it through the second book before C started screaming. I had to plop her down in her own crib, close the door, race back to sing Twinkle Twinkle at warp speed, put DD down, run back to get C, spend 20 minutes trying to rock her to sleep... then she woke up after maybe 5 minutes and started wailing again.
She's still awake but in the swing now and I'm hiding in the dark hoping she'll fall asleep. DH is gone all week. This sucks....
Re: Ok, bedtime with 2 kids and DH gone SUUUUUUUCKS!
My little man at 0-1-2
ugh, yep, I've totally been there!
Tonight I did dinner, then baths & PJs by myself & MH came home just in time to bring DS up to bed. I was ready to rip my hair out. DD was overtired, so she was fussing while eating, then I couldn't put
OMG the first time I had to put both boys to bed by myself, I wanted to tear my hair out. Nothing went according to plan. The next night was better though and now when I have to do it, I try to stay calm and not go in with any expectations
It definitely gets easier. When DS2 was about 6 weeks old DH started school 4 nights a week. Picture me rocking a newborn to sleep in the recliner for 30 mins so he's in a deep enough sleep to be able to be put down while DS1 watches cartoons in his pj
