2nd Trimester

When should you stop traveling?

I know that at some point in pregnancy you should probably put a hold on long car rides/etc, I was just wondering what you ladies might think is a good benchmark week to stop at. I also plan on asking my doctor, but I won't see her for another three weeks. Thanks in advance!

Re: When should you stop traveling?

  • I was told that if everything continues as normal to stop at 36 weeks. I live in the US and my doctor was going to let me travel to Canada, but the trip is scheduled for 36 weeks so I couldn't go. If it were a week or two earlier it would have been ok.

  • My OB wants me to stop travelling anywhere more than 2 hours from home at the beginning of the 3rd trimester. That  sucks for me a little  because my parents and family are 3 hours away. We will be having an early shower for me at 28 weeks there

  • I'm NOT going to a sales meeting in Cali (I'm in NYC) at 33.5 weeks.   I don't feel comfortable doing that, regardless of what my doc says.  So I didn't even ask him, since my bosses are cool with that.   Maybe if it's wasn't a 6.5

  • its different for everyone and depends on past history but most say 34-36 weeks for air travel.  You can still pull off a car ride but some Dr's don't want you farther then an hour away from your hospital.  In my case my son came 6 weeks early s

  • For air travel: my doc suggested I stop between 32-34 weeks.  Each airline has a slightly different policy, and some require a doctor's note if you're travelling late in pregnancy, so check with your airline.

  • Talked to my obgyn about going to Canada at 35 weeks, 4 hours away. She was o.k. with it but I have been going to this place since I was a month old. I could get to the hospital with my eyes closed if need be.

  • FTM- but I was told by my OB that if I was comfortable with it I could travel by car, solo 6hr if need be at 36wk. I only asked because I travel to my home office (6hrs away) one week a month, and I plan on doing it one last time at 36 weeks. I also used

  • Here's the thing - if your pregnancy is healthy you can honestly travel as far as you want, as late as you want.  The reason the doctors give a time frame is because they are assuming it's of the utmost importance to YOU that you deliver with them at

  • My doc and paperwork say to not travel over an hour away from the hospital location at 36 weeks.  If I must go somewhere longer to let them know so they can give me paperwork in case labor occurs else where, they know how the pregnancy was.  My
  • My doc has given me a preliminary OK to fly 3 hrs away (from Chicago to S. Florida) during my 36th week. We will do an ultrasound the day before I fly, and I would take a copy of my medical record. As long as everyone is happy and healthy, we'll run do
