Newborn must have (need your opinion)

Hi everyone, I'm 31weeks preggo and I'm still making a list of the baby products that I need, the thing is every time I go to one of those websites or blogs they have so many options and choices saying that this and that are essentials, or u must have this, that I feel really overwhelmed. So I would like to know your opinion what is a MUST have to buy right now for a newborn, u see I don't want to go crazy and buy everything they say that u have got to have because I know u don't use them all, and it's a waste of money. So if u could tell me one product that u couldn't  live without for the first few months that u had your baby, I would really appreciate.

  • Snap and go stroller, boppy pillow, pump if nursing, swing, bouncer (great to take in bathroom so you can get a quick shower, pack n play for living room, swaddle blankets..everyone will have different answers, but after having our first DD I realized

  • You don't actually need a pnp, but our LOs slept in the pnp in our room for the first 3mos.

After DS I would have said swing, but DD hated the swing and never used it. A bouncy seat or rock n play (A small portable seat) would be good to have tho

  • Don't get caught up in a lot of that, because a lot of it is gimmicks. Also, you may plan one way, but odds are your plan will go out the window. Newborns love shaking things up a bit!

That being said, we had a colicky baby, so we couldn't li

This is pretty subjective. In essence, all you really NEED is clothes, diapers and wipes, something for baby to sleep safely in, a car seat, and something to feed baby with.

Some things I found were "needs" for us over the first three months

  • Lots of swaddle blankets are a must have!!!

Chances are that you won't have time to grab the burp cloth (or want to be carrying it around) everytime LO spits up. In a pinch they can be used to help contain poop-splosions. Use a few to cover up LO

"What are you having?" "Well the radiologist says its a healthy little human baby. I'm a little disappointed, because I really wanted a puppy." LOL
  • I think you have some great advice on here already. One thing I learned with DD was that BRU took back stuff that was already put together (swing, bouncy seat, etc.) even if you didn't have the box. As long as it was on your registry.

  • Diapers, wipes, cream, a few outfits, a carseat, somewhere for LO to sleep with sheets, a few blankets. You can live without the rest, but some things are nice to have.
  • If you are nursing, add nursing tanks to your must have list! Don't forget the pads for you too. (nursing and maxi pads) I had to go out when #1 was four days old to get things for me.
  • Crib, diapers, wipes, carseat, clothes, blanket. Honestly, that's all you really need.  Swings/bouncers are nice to have but  some babies hate both. changing table is nice but a blanket on the floor works just as well (2 p

  • Thank you so much ladies, you guys are helping me a lot, I already crossed out a lot of stuff that I had on my list!
  • I have a 2 week old - these have been my must haves:

sleepy wrap, swaddle mes, rock n play, car seat, burp cloths, newborn sleepers, diapers, wipes, changing pads, muslin swaddle blankets, pump, rocking chair

I haven't used the boppy as

  • As long as we are just recommending things, I would suggest a crib soother. Both of my LOs used cloud B sound machines (one has the sheep, the other the giraffe). They both slpet nicely at home and away when they had their noise machines!

  • I got a Boppy nursing pillow when my LO was a few days old, and it is amazing. I had a c-section, so a changing table has also been really helpful. Stooping over the end of the bed wasn't working so well!

  • Lucieslist.com has probably the best list out there. She covers each topic of baby related items, along with reviews on which of those products she likes the best. I found it the most helpful. And she also goes beyond the newborn stage requirements.
