I just posted this, but LO was flailing his arms and I accidentally pushed delete on my phone, lol. I'm on the laptop now so here goes. To the person who replied before, I didn't get to read your reply and would love if you could repost.
Basically my mom always nags me that I don't dress my son warm enough and that he is going to get sick. We live in florida, and it rarely gets below 50 except during the middle of the night.
These outfits are for going from indoors to the car and back, not being outside all day. And for a baby 5+ months (mine is 7 months now)
70+ degrees - Just a onesie or shortall/romper. Basically if I'm comfortable wearing shorts and flip flops (typical Floridian) I dress him this way.
60-70 degrees - If I feel a little chill outside, I'll add socks and possibly long pants. He seems to hate wearing socks, so I only put them on if he needs them.
50-60 - In addition to socks and pants, I will put a beanie hat on him and a hoodie sweater. If he is in the carseat I will put a fluffy blanket over instead of the sweater because I don't like a lot of layers in the carseat.
My mom raised us in NY and I feel like she doesn't see the difference between going from the house to the car in 55 degree weather, and riding the bus/subway in 32 degree weather. We got into in a few weeks ago because she wanted me to put him in a huge puffy coverall when it was 52 degrees out and sunny.
Am I way off here? I always thought you could dress an older baby in whatever you are wearing. I know they say to add a layer sometimes, but I figured that's for younger babies.
I'd love some input from you mommas, especially in the cooler climates.
Re: How warm do you dress your older LO in various temps?
I tel
I live in the Pacific Northwest - so cool and rainy most of the time.
I usually just go with the same amount of clothing I'm wearing + a layer.
For example: If I am wearing pants and a tee shirt, LO will wear pants and a long sleeve.
Honestly, unless it's really cold and by really cold I mean in the 40's, I don't put on jackets. If it's below 60 I will put DD in pants instead of a skirt. Socks go on only if jackets are on usually.
