Toddler had an innie and now an outie! Hernia? HELP!

HI, 
My 16-month old had an innie bellybutton until this week. She had a bad stomach bug and is teething and crying more than usual. Today I noticed her bellybutton is sticking out. I am afraid she has developed a hernia from straining with the virus and all the crying. Has anyone experienced this? Will her bellybutton every go back to an innie? 
Please help! Has anyone experienced this? I am so nervous about it.

    i would visit the pediatrician.  my father just had surgery on this exact issue and my brother is a doctor and said if not treated part of the intestine could die.  better safe than sorry.  hope its nothing! good luck

    I highly doubt it's a hernia unless your family is high-risk in that department. Chances are your LO picked at it and turned it onto an outtie herself. If it IS a hernia then her intestines would be trying to escape via the weak spot (hole in her muscl
