Babies: 6 - 9 Months

Am I just being super OCD?

Okay so first let me say I may just be a little obsessive about my Munchkins development because I know she is going to do what she wants when she wants and there is not much I can do about that. She is going to be 8 months on the 9th and isn't crawling yet, should I be concerned? Other people say that they have seen her crawl backwards, but I have never seen it. For the most part she just seems to want to roll from place to place and shes scary fast. Anybody have any tips that may influence her to crawl? Should I just let her do her own thing?

Re: Am I just being super OCD?

  • Crawling isn't a milestone all kids will meet.  But not quite 8 months doesn't mean she's not going to.  My son crawled at over 8 months, walked just before a year and hasn't stopped going since.  Milestones are based on averages so obvious

  • My 8 month old shows no interest in going anywhere in any fashion. She can roll over, but she doesn't roll from place to place, and she certainly doesn't crawl. I wouldn't worry.
  • DD will be nine months next week and isn't crawling.  DS crawled at seven months.  You are over obsessing about something that isn't even a real milestone.  I know it's hard, but try not to.  She'll develop on her own schedule.

  • Both of my nephews learned to crawl at 9 months. But because of the back is best campaign a lot of babies just skip right over crawling.

  • Some babies never crawl! It's not even a milestone.

My other kids were late walkers, they didn't walk until 15 months and they didn't start crawling until almost 10 months. Good luck!
  • Yes, yes you are.  RELAX.

  • DS1 never really properly crawled. Well he did, but only for like a week before he started walking right around his first birthday. Some kids never crawl if they feel they can get along fine another way.
  • My guy (he's 7.5 months) is in daycare with 2 other boys around his age (one is 3 weeks older, one is 1 day younger).  Seeing the differences in them really helps reinforce that each baby develops at their own pace.  The oldest has been "army cr
  • My daughter is 8.5 months and no crawling here, but I feel like we're getting close.
Someone asked a similar question on the July '12 board and there were lots of noncrawlers. Stop worrying.

Try to give her tummy time and let her try to get up on all fours and rock.  Other than that, like you said, she'll do what she wants to do when she wants to do it.

DD will be 7 months this week and has NO interest in crawling whatsoever. &n

  • Relax.  My now 2.5 year old DS crawled at 13 months and walked at 16.5 months.  His pedi kept telling me not to worry so I tried not to. I would stress about it and compare him to my friends babies and really in the end he met the milestone w
