"Just blend up some old frozen bananas with peanut butter or cocoa powder. Delicious guilt-free 'ice cream'!"

I tried it once and thought it was the most disgusting thing ever. Did not taste like ice cream at all - just old bananas with some nasty cocoa powder that didn't dissolve.

If you've tried it and liked it, what was your method? I have lots of frozen bananas in my freezer, and I'm too lazy to make banana bread with them.

We use perfectly ripe bananas, with no brown spots, and add walnuts. Then we drizzle the 'ice cream' with maple syrup. We love it.

If we want to use peanut butter, we add milk.

Oh yes, please note I am not trying to actually substitute ice cream, lol - there is no substitute! Just looking for creative ways to use bananas.

I made some but added a teensy bit of milk to help it blend, plus a couple of spoonfuls of peanut butter and one or two tsp of vanilla extract. I thought it came out pretty good. Buying normal ice cream is much easier though. =
