11 mth old boy -Haircut question

This question is from a friend. Her little boy is 11 months old and his hair is really long. SHe is taking him tomorrow to get it cut, she was wondering is it better to have him in her lap for the cut or sit him in the chair and try to distract him?

If any of you have done this she would love your advice.

If its a kids salon, the stylist probably has training and experience in cutting kids hair when they can't sit still, go with what the stylist suggests.

I'm a hairstylist , I would say have him sit on her lap and use scissor's only because clippers tend to scare the lil ones.

tell her good luck sometimes some lil ones just can't handle it.

I cut kids hair for 7 yrs before becoming a SAHM. I would see how he seems in the chair first before they start cutting. If he is hesitant even with distraction he can sit on her lap. I agree with whatever the stylist suggests. I always ended up giving a

We just took DS to his first cut Thursday. DS sat in DH's lap and I took pictures and talked to him. She did not use clippers, just scissors so he was fine with the cut. Took about 5 minutes to get it done
