labor and glasses??

I feel like I always see pictures of people who have just given birth and they are wearing glasses. Can you not wear contacts when in labor??

Re: labor and glasses??

  • You can wear whatever you want but I think glasses would be more comfortable.

  • You can wear whatever you want, it probably depends on the hospital or what is most comfortable. For me that was and will again be contacts.

  • Haha well I had kind of the same thought process, you have to remember though that a baby's vision is very very limited so she will hardly notice :)

I did wear contacts, and then the second day we were home I dropped my last lens in the sink! I d

  • OK, this was one of those questions I had and always forgot to ask the board too. Good to know you can wear contacts! I was thinking you couldn't because if you had to have an emergency c-section and be put under, they may make you take them out. (When I

I wore my contacts through my 23 hour labor and c section with DD. I'd much rather wear my contacts than glasses. Different hospitals have different policies regarding contacts during surgery.

  • I was told to wear glasses because for some reason you have to have glasses on instead of contacts if you end up with a c section. I have no idea why but thats what I was told
  • I was in labour 29 hours and felt way more comfortable in my contacts. I probably would have thrown my glasses.

  • Pregnancy and breastfeeding affects my eyes.

I am just more comfortable in my glasses during those stages and contacts make me want to claw my eyes out.

  • I wore my contacts, but technically, I wasn't supposed to. You aren't supposed to have any foreign objects in your body in case you need to have a c-section for instance. It is the standard practice, but it's rarely followed.

  • My eyes get so dry with contacts it never would have even occurred to me to wear them in labor.  I don't think I wore my glasses either until afterward.  You don't need to see anything until the baby's out, and if you're nearsighted (like me) th
