LO almost inconsolable with DH

I posted this a few weeks ago (https://community.thebump.com/cs/ks/forums/thread/72792124.aspx)

But it's still happening.  Someone told me that it's just a phase, but how long is it going to last? She won't calm down when he tries to get her back to sleep, he holds her in the evening and she's fine in certain positions but not others.

At times I'll be pumping and he's pacing the living room trying to get her to calm down. I end up stopping and take her from him because we're all getting frustrated.

LO is fine with my Dad, we see him almost weekly. He can get her to calm down every time.

It's really getting to DH and it's tough for me too.  She'll smile at him and be fine if he changes her diapers or talks to her when she's in her bouncy seat. But, when he tries to hold her, she freaks out. I'm the only one that can get her to sleep at night.

Any advice?

Re: LO almost inconsolable with DH

  • My LO was like this from about 2 months to maybe 3 1/2 months? She literally acted like she hated my DH. It sucked, for him and for me. But, it truly was a phase and it got better. Now she's a real daddy's girl. Hang in there!

  • Have him drape one of your shirts that you wore over his shoulder so that you LO smells you but see him and then hopefully fade the shirt out and all is good.

    Good luck

  • My only thought is that your DH anticipates it happening, feels nervous, etc - and your LO can sense that.

  • Like PPs said, if he is tense going into it, baby will sense that and will get tense. They mimic how you feel. - This is probably the most likely cause. Take a break for a little while and then try again. Maybe when LO is sleeping would be a good time
