For mobile users: Sometimes I feel like I'm from another planet...
So apparently I'm behind the times on brand names (and their obvious, utter importance o_O) as well as AAP recommendations. Not to mention 'what is cool'.
I have an 11 yo DD and I went by 'most' AAP recommendations when she was born. She is a happy, well adjusted girl. I never did make a big deal out of brand names for baby gear, but I couldn't tell you brands on most of my clothes.
I now have a 4mo DS. I only found out a month ago the new recommendations for keeping LO in parent's bedroom for first 6 months (wouldn't have happened anyway, he moved to his own room at 3 weeks). I have no idea what brand stroller, carseat, swing, bouncy toy we have. It isn't really important to me.
Some people list brand names on Every.thing. they mention. Blankets, sleep clothes, baby tub, etc. am I the oddball?
Oh, and I have never swaddled either kid, I use blankets in the crib which LO has been in since 3 wks.
Opinions? Should I be tarred and feathered?

Pfft. Do what works for you. You have a perfectly healthy and alive 11 yo. You must be doing something right
If it's any comfort, I have a 7-month old, I know the brand names of most things he has, but I didn't purchase them for anything
Worst mother ever!
I thought swaddling had something to do with Baby Jesus when my DS was born - I had no clue. (We missed our infant classes b/c he was born a few weeks early). Swaddling is something that is cyclically fashionable

Funny, that's what I keep saying. Lol.
I think you need to look at your successes. You have a happy DD and a happy DS, (BTW he is too cute!). Who are these people that refer to name brands, say you should keep your child in your bedroom, etc? To me, it sounds like your're doing a good
<chuckles> this is why the 35+ boards exist...
Especially with how Colicy of a baby DS was, my parenting motto became "do whatever it takes to get sleep and survive!" for both of us! It's all about doing what works for you and
I don't give a rat's a$$ what brand of stroller/ swing/ gold-plated baby rattle anyone else has for their kid. Do what works and ignore everyone else! LOL
C hated to be swaddled even when we were still in the hospital when he was born. I always had a blanket with him too. I laid him on half it and flipped it up over his
I agree that you should do what works for you. The argument against blankets in the crib is that they could cause SIDS so the new recs are baby sleeps on back, no blankets, stuffed toys, pillows, etc. in crib until baby is past 1 yo. I have not heard o
Thanks ladies!
I know my kids will be fine. I just feel so old sometimes when people mention a new-fangled thing item and brands I've never heard of.
For instance, the Merlin magic sleep suit...looks exactly like a snowsuit without mi
I know exactly what you are talking about. I have an 18yo DD and EVERYTHING is different now than when I had her. I never swaddled her and she was in a baby positioner to keep her sleeping on her side. The thing didn't work as she wou
