Eczema. What works?

DS dry skin has been horrible lately. He itches his legs constantly and to the point of breaking the skin. I've tried several different lotions including a few that are supposed to be for eczema and nothing works. We switched his bath to every 2-3 days. I'm at my wits end. Any suggestions?

Re: Eczema. What works?

  • Cerave Cream (the one in the jar, not the pump lotion).

We have tried everything else but Cerave is the only thing that works.  Put it right on right after the bathtub.  I am talking pat him dry and put it right on, don't wait.  It

  • Coconut oil, that you can buy at a natural food store is AMAZING. Google all the uses for coconut oil, we use it for cooking, in hair, on skin. It works better than aquaphor on my daughters skin. My sisters kid has eczema so bad they buy really expensive

  • We also use cetphacil bar soap. It works really nice. It's also the o LY thing that works on my acne prone face:)

I made it past my goal I nursed for 1 year and 6 weeks! Im so proud of myself!
  • Cortisone and triple cream. Bar soap instead of baby soap.
Edit: bc my phone hates punctuation apparently... DH, I, and both kids all have eczema! It's a regular lotion circus around here! What we have found works is a bath every night to get the

  • Ditto the Cerave. I use the wash and cream on both kids and myself. Its great for our sensitive skin and helps combat the kids eczema.

  • My son has eczema since he was an infant. I tried everything too and nothing worked, just made his skin greasy.  I tried the Aveeno baby ezcema therapy and it just soaks in and leaves skin smooth as a baby's bottom, not greasy and his eczema was clea
  • Another vote for cerave cream (in jar)... my kids dont have eczema but I developed a wicked case of it on both hands after (stupidly) handwashing bottles for twins every day for a year & not wearing gloves... I did a whole bunch of other things (I wea
  • It might be hard to get, but if you have a close friend or family member who would be willing to help - I heard breastmilk works wonders for skin conditions like eczema and psoriasis.

  • DS had horrible eczema...I tried aquaphor and other lotions, but the ONLY thing that cleared it up was hydro cortisone cream.  I wouldn't use it too often, only when it got really bad.  His started when he was 5 months old and cleared up around

  • Triple paste is the only thing that helps ds.

We haven't tried coconut oil yet, but I might pick some up.
