Babies: 3 - 6 Months

waking at night!

Lo was sttn at 3 weeks at least 8 hrs. He is now 4 months about 2 weeks ago he keeps getting up at night.  I thought possibly teething, growth spurt but his chewing has calmed down.  The worst part is he wakes up now as soon as he hits the crib even when he is passed out asleep or he wakes back up 45 mins later.  We try to rock him and but him back down and this has been going on every night!  Just to try to get sleep when I had to work in the Am I put him in his bouncer next to me and he slept a 4 hour stretch.  I don't want him to become dependent on the bouncer.  I can't do the cry it out method either.  Any suggestions?

Also we started early on with a bedtime routine, bath, story time, eating.  He sometimes catnaps during the day and I am lucky if i can get a 2 hr nap in the afternoon-only in the bouncer

thanks

Re: waking at night!

  • Google Wonder Weeks chart. It puts things in perspective. DS is 5 months and we went about a month of frequent waking up to 8 times. It's supposedly the 4 month wakeful period. We are getting better nights now, still up about 3 times but it isn't a battle

  • Keep the routine the same and it'll get better. We all go through that.

  • Before I even opened the post I thought, I bet her LO is around 4 months.  DD did the same thing around this time and it basically resolved itself at 5 months and we never looked back.  Not looking forward to it with this little guy, but I guess

  • Yup, the 4 month wakeful period hit. Same happened with us (a week or so before) and just recently got better. His first tooth popped out yesterday so I imagine that was part of it too. Good luck. I'd stick with your routine, and honestly, if the only way
