Breast Pumps

I know its early, but since this pregnancy is unplanned we are having to really think about all of our purchases. I've been researching breast pumps (and all of our big purchases) and wanted to know what ones yall have used before and what you thought of them?

I will be going back to work probably 2 months after the baby is born full time, but i really want to breast feed for as long as possible (assuming my body agrees lol

  • Oh, and I also wanted to second what the PP said.... definitely call your insurance company and find out if they cover a pump rental or purchase before you buy anything. Mine didn't, but many insurance companies do cover pumps now days.

  • Medela PIS.  Some insurance companies will say "not covered with out medical reason"  At that point you need your MD to fudge the script for you.

  • I breasted my son 14 months however I was back to work when he was 10 weeks. I used my medela until it broke, then rented from the hospital. The hospital grade pumps are MUCH nicer and stronger. I plan on renting for my next one where my insurance covers
  • Another one for the Medela PISA. Mine has now been through a combined total of 26 months of pumping. It is still holding up great. It works great, it's portable, and Medela's customer service is top notch! When my pump lost power around the time DS was

  • This is my first pregnancy but I've been a nanny for many years and the Medela seems to be the best. That's what I'm going with. My OB told me that with the new Obamacare plan, most insurance companies will give you a free breast pump, but it's not always

  • For some breast feeding mothers a pump IS a necessity. It was unfortunate that some doctors had to go around things in order to get their patients what they need, because insurance companies refused to.

This is no longer an issue due to ACA.

Perhaps. But it's not always that simple. That i
