Hospital stay

Hello!
I am going in for a RCS in about 3 weeks. I have a 2 1/2 year old daughter and also a 15 year old stepdaughter. The more my husband and I have talked about it the more we are thinking it would be easier if he stayed with me at the hospital all day and evening and then slept at home at night with the girls while I am in the hospital. My inlaws said they can take the girls for a few nights but my 2 year old needs her routine and I feel like things will be crazy enough for her with the new baby and my step daughter's school is about 45 minutes from my IL's house. They can't stay at our house because we have too many stairs and both have really bad knee problems. It's not the most ideal situation for me and the baby but it will be much better for girls. Has anyone stayed in the hospital overnight alone after a csection? There is no nursery at the hospital where I am delivering besides the NICU. I spoke with my doctor and he reassured me the nurses will help but I am still worried.

Re: Hospital stay

  • My oldest was almost 3 years old when my 2nd was born via RCS. My husband stayed the first night with me, because they won't let the baby in your room alone with you the first day. (we do have a nursey they will take them to).

    Then he stayed a

  • With my son I stayed alone. It was not that bad. I was pretty sick- suffered from toxemia. I took advantage of the nurses help. While I rested they took care of him. I would go down and visit when I could and they also brought him in to see/visit/feed

  • DS and I stayed in the hospital 9 days because he had to get IV antibiotics. DH stayed the first couple of nights, but then mostly stayed at home because we were in the middle of a move and there were a ton of things to do around the house. It was good

  • I'm in a very similar situation, scheduled repeat c-section in about 3 weeks with a 2 and a half year old.. and my 2 year old is still not a great sleeper even though we have done the same exact bedtime routine since he was 2 months.. he's never slept

  • Thank you for all of the responses! I am still hoping we can figure out how DH can stay with me for at least the first night but I think I will be ok if he can't. Thanks again!!

  • I stayed alone, and it wasn't that bad - just lonely! The nurses were helpful the first day or so, but not so much after that. Even though the hospital had a regular newborn nursery, I only sent him there for ~30 minutes a day while I showered. It was no

  • My LO will have just turned 2 when I have my c-section with this baby.  DH won't be able to stay at the hospital so that made our mind up for us.  He can only come visit during a few hours a day of visiting time.

  • I had a scheduled c/s with my twins.  I sent DH home each night with DS1 so he could have as much routine as possible.  The hospital I delivered at did have a nursery, and I wasn't allowed to keep them with me the first night if I didn't have so

  • With both my boys, emergency and rcs I stayed alone. We have pets and the second time we had DS1, so DH visited for a few hours then went home. Both boys were in my room right away for the duration with no issues, nurses help when you need it and I wanted
