TDAP shot

My OB just informed me that a new "rule" for the tdap shot is being started which is to give pregnant mothers this shot during third trimester so it helps boost he baby's immunity before LO can get their regular shots.

I got the tdap shot about a year ago and they still want to give it to me again just to help the baby.

Thoughts? Has anyone else's OB brought this up?

    Some people vax and do everything their doctor recommends.

     

    I don't. I'm vaxed for TDaP, and there is no reason to get a booster while pregnant. Babe will get its first shot of DTaP at 2 months.

    My understanding was you only need this like every 5 to 7 years or something. I had mine about two years before DD. She was just born last year and my OB's office never even mentioned this, haven't this time either!

    I had mine in the hospital the day after DS was born about 2 years ago. I do not plan to get another while pregnant.

    I got mine in the hospital a day or 2 after DS was born in 2010. My OB has not mentioned anything this time around. If he wants me to get a booster I will get one.
    No one else will ever know the strength of my love for you. After all, you are the only one who knows what my heart sounds like from the inside.

    I'm guessing the reason they are doing this is because your immunity is highest in the first year, and they want you to be able to transfer that to the baby. From what I've read immunity starts to drop off at around a year(2 out of 10 no longer protect

    Due with #5 April 22, 2015. It's a girl!!!!! 

     Yes it was planned, yes we know what causes that, no we are not on public assistance, and yes we will be getting cable after this. ;)

    She's right, the new recommendations (I think they were updated 2/2013) are that all women receive the shot during each pregnancy. Best immunity is received by the child if the shot is given in the 3rd trimester, although it can be given at any time throu

    the best part about living in the usa is that we have the option to decline anything and everything. if you got the shot last year you dont have to get it again.
