Homeschooling

When to start?

I know that right now at only a year old my twins are to young to start actually 'homeschooling' but when should you? To keep them still during diaper changes we have been singing the alphabet to them and they can say the first 15 letters without help, if you draw a line or a circle on a paper they will copy it all over the paper and they can speak 4 word sentences. But I feel like I am pushing them and not letting them enjoy there babyhood? They seem to LOVE learning but I feel like they are to young? 

Also we are planning on sending them to a private school near our house part time for grades 1-6 and then exclusively HS for a few years and then dual-enroll/enroll them into the local collage when they were ready.

  • I'm a firm believer in following the child's lead.  Some kids are ready earlier than others.

    I also believe in the Charlotte Mason method, which discourages lengthy lessons and table work at a young age.

  • I don't think singing the alphabet during diaper changes is pushing them.  Babies love when their parents sing to them.  And if they love drawing lines or circles like you, that's great, too.  I wouldn't make them do it if they didn't want
