Toddler backpack HELP!

So our 2.5 yr old is starting prek day after he turns 2.5. He has never been away from home or daycare so we are all really excited! I originally tho I should get him a nice Disneys Cars backpack because he loooooves cars so much and it will get him really excited and want to go to school. Then we saw few and I don't want to get him something too cheap material and straps that ate too thin and no side pockets so I looked at 2/3 I really like and prices ranged from 1528 dollars. Then my husband found this Northface mini backpack which is durable long lasting and great looking. But now were confused. The north face one is only 24.99 and we found free shipping. It will last him forever and maybe our next baby too and he can use it for his things for weekend trips too.

Confusion is should I get him a character backpack that's cheap because all the kids will have character bags and he might feel like his is not exciting enough? Also we have finally been able to take his small cars away from him because he was constantly attached to them and holding on to them so in that case should we not get him something car related at all? If that's he case I don't want to just get him another character book bag that he's not into. Don't want him to force him to like another character like Thomas or super heros.

Or should be get him the north face which is colorful and durable and long lasting and not too expensive. Will he really care what other kids are carrying? We can always get cars pin on it or something?

Confused. TIA and sorry for long story.

  • I think you're way over thinking this. I got my ds a plain black backpack I found at a consignment store for .99. He loves school and his backpack just fine. I don't foresee years of therapy since his friend had a character backpack and he didn't.

  • Thanks. You are right I am over thinking it. But I do that a lot with many decisions I make and just want to make right one and not rethinks it. Lol that's u I tho getting opinion from others would be good
  • I agree a little bit of overthinking about a backpack. Get one that your LO likes, don't worry about what the other kids have. That's what I would do.

  • I would get the North Face one.

Your son isn't going to care. In a few months, he may like something other than Cars, anyway. I'd personally go for the plain backpack with a longer lifespan.

Just from what I've seen in two years

  • I'd go with quality/durability. I have no idea how big either one of them is but chance are at 2 1/2 he is not wearing it regardless & you'll be carrying it in & out anyway. Also does your preschool require a backpack or are you just getting it fo
  • We got a "skip hop zoo" backpack. Just their size, side pockets for cups, cute but well made. Definitely worth the money! about 20 dollars

  • Well when we went couple times to his school I saw all the kids backpacks lined up on this shelf. Also I wanted to get one for him so he can relate the backpack to going to school.

Also we travel a lot and also go to the temple every week an
  • I would go with the Northface one. We bought DD one of the small LL Bean backpacks. She used it for school last year and this year, plus we take it on weekend outings, used it as her carry on for flights, that bag has been everywhere and has held up great
