So, we have battled several bouts of constipation since DD started solids at 6 months. We have had to use suppositories a few times. I give her water or diluted prune juice with all solids, she gets at least some pears, prunes, or peaches at just about every meal, I never give her any solids that are supposed to be constipation, and I have been giving her a teaspoon of flax oil every day. Despite all this, she went 2 days without pooping and then the 3rd day had a hard, small pebbly stool and she has had about 4 of these over the last couple of days. She strains and cries pretty hard when she has pooped as well.
I have been giving her more finger foods this week--pears, broccoli, navy beans, and avocado. Broccoli and navy beans are new for her. Could this be causing constipation?
At her 9month appointment, her doctor said just give her as much prunes and prune juice as it takes to keep things moving, but that doesn't seem to be working. And, I want her to have a diet that consists of more than prunes and pears!
Any suggestions? Would you call the pedi/make an appointment? I'm planning to try a different doctor in the practice because I haven't been thrilled with this one.
FYI, she is about 75% breastfed and 25% on Gerber Good Start. We switched from Similac and that seemed to help some.
Thanks in advance for any help!

This may sound silly - but whenever our LO was having a hard time going we'd plop him in the exersaucer and without fail, he's pooped everytime! I think just being up and moving around really gets things going for him. We've actually re-named it
