I am 18 weeks as of tomorrow. Anatomy scan is booked for April 11th. I am currently living in Ontario (Toronto area) and I'm wondering if anyone has an experience with gender? I've heard hits and misses. Do they tell you when you go? (meaning the u/s tech) or do you just not get to find out the gender of your baby anymore? I know there's that whole thing of a lot of cultures aborting based on gender so they don't like to tell anymore.
Just wondering if any of you were able to find out through your u/s tech or was it at least in the report that is sent to your doctor? (mine said if not, I'll have to go to a private u/s clinic to find out)
So frustrating
Re: Question for CANADIANS
It definitely depends on the facility.
My first was born in Ottawa, I didn't want to know boy/girl, and they couldn't tell anyway since LO#1 kept legs closed.
LO#2 was in Oshawa, I still didn't want to know, but tech knew, so wrote i
My aunt is a u/s tech at the Rouge Valley Health System in Ajax, and they're not allowed to tell OR put it in a report for the doctor.
She says that some of the other techs there break the rules and do it anyways... but it's a punishable offence,
depends on the province. In my province, the ultrasound tech will see what it is, write it in the report and your care provider will tell you what it is.
People used to assume it was because of selective abortions, but it's actually to stop ppl
