How long would you wait?

My water started breaking at 2am this morning.  It's still kind of leaking/gushing from time to time.  I've had some contractions but nothing timeable or regular.  I've been at home waiting it out because I don't want to get to the hospital too soon...since I'm not really contracting much, I worry that I am not progressing quickly and don't want pitocin or anything pushed on me.  My doula does not seem concerned and feels that labor will probably really start sometime within 24 hours of my water breaking...so I'm going to try to not worry about it untIl tonight...but since I'm a FTM I'm a worrier.  I am worried baby will be in distress and I won"t know.  So I'm a little torn...Dont want to go to hospital too soon...But Dont want to wait too long since my water is broken.

I'm going to walk the dog and do a some squats to see if labor picks up....Any advice would be appreciated.

  • I personally would wait about 18 hours. Try to eat and get as much rest as possible before you go to the hospital if you haven't gone already. It's good to be as well rested as possible, especially if you end up needing augmentation. When you're not
