Went to the OB yesterday for 22-week check-up. Everything looks wonderful and my uterus is right on size/time. But mommy is not - I have gained 20 pounds since conception. My OB did NOT mention this as a problem at all, but having battled with my weight all my life and finally being comfortable and healthy before I got pregnant, I brought it up as a concern. He said I was a few weeks ahead weight-gain-wise, but not alarming. I asked what I could do about it and he said to weigh in once a week and try not to gain more than one pound a week.
So I have decided to do a very very modified no-white/Sugar Busters diet: no refined/processed sugar, no white rice, and no white flour. I feel like this can't be too bad since I'm NOT cutting out carbs, just the simple ones. Also, I have been eating sooooo much bread, cake, cookies, etc. that I feel like this will help.
Anyone ever try this while pregnant? Is this harmful? Today is only day 1, so I'm not suffering or doing damage yet. ![]()
Re: Slowing down weight gain
I am in the same boat! I can't see that being harmful in any way. As long as you are eating when you are hungry and getting all of the right nutrients, you should be good.
Up until my appt at 16 week, I had only gained 6 lbs.
That sounds like a great plan to me. Since I have GD I follow a similar diet: no white flour, refined carbs, or sugar; only whole grains and limited amounts at that.
So far, I have only gained about 5 lbs in the last 2 months, and my doctor said
BFP December 1, 2012
