15 Weeks, Measuring Closer to 19 Weeks? Is it TWINS???

Hi. So according to my first u/s I am supposed to be only 15 weeks pregnant with my second child. My first will be 3 in December, so it's not close enough that my uterus would still be expanded due to that. However I went to the ER the other day due to a couple spider bites (poisonous but thankfully not lethal...phew) and when they were trying and failing to get a fetal heartbeat (little guys says leave me ALONE) the ob nurse says "Are you sure you're just 15 weeks?" and I'm like ".....that's what they told me....." So, as a super curious and slightly neurotic worrywort I go and measure my uterus (fundus) and I am somewhere between 18 and 19 weeks in my measurements. Now I have a grandfather who was a twin, a second cousin who has a twin, a cousin who has a twin, and I was a twin (disappearing twin syndrome). This is my second pregnancy (just like my aunt), could I be having TWINS? I've read of people not knowing til they were closer to 20 weeks because well, they don't look anymore once they find one baby. And sometimes when they are so little and it's so early, they don't hear both heartbeats. My aunt was like 6 months by the time they realized, "Hey, there's two boys in there not one". I'm just confused and I'm hoping that it's just that I have twins or extra fluid and not that the due date is wrong because....omg all the things I did when I didn't know I was pregnant. I drank wine, I smoked cigs, I took birth control, I had to take meds when I was sick including steroids and antibiotic shots. I just.....God help me. Let it be twins or just a bunch of fluid. What do I DO????

Where did you get your official medical training measuring fundal height? Just curious.

Trust the doctor until you know otherwise. Fundal height can be inaccurate before 20 weeks (according to my medically trained, licensed provider)

Seriously? You had an u/s and there was one baby in there. You did the measurement yourself so you were probably off. What you do is wait for your next u/s.

As someone who is pregnant with twins, you can definately hear the hbs, clearly at that, at 15 weeks. Until you have an ultrasound proving you're having twins... you are not having twins. Stop freaking out.

It doesn't matter the spacing between kids. Your uterus will get bigger faster with each pregnancy. I would trust from your early u/s that you're not having twins.

If fundal height was the determining factor of multiples I would have had triplets with my DS. I've said it before but I was measuring almost 8 weeks ahead at 33 weeks and it stayed that way. I had a huge baby and carried a lot of amniotic fluid. It'

You have obviously had an u/s since they told you that you were 15 weeks, right? If so, rest assured there was only one. Unless it was super early (like 4-5 weeks). Also, don't measure your own fundal height -- especially before 20 weeks. My doc doesn

I googled how to measure fundal length and average measurements and reasons for measuring small/large; and I even tried measuring mine. I found my pubic bone (obviously), but it was hard to tell where the uterus ended. I doubt I got the measur

At ten weeks I was measuring 16, Im pregnant with twins. Id think youd be more than 3 weeks ahead if you had twins, and you measured yourself so I dont know how you got that.

This is just a weird post. Obviously doctors know what they are looking for and would have found a twin if this was the case. It's your second pregnancy so that may be why your measuring a little bit ahead. I'm pregnant with twins and you'd be measuring a

I'm still measuring 3-4 weeks bigger and am now supposed to be 30 weeks pregnant with one girl. So not twins, but also not a big baby. And I measured correctly thank you, it's not that difficult. Also not full of *** but thanks for the concern. To the commenter who asked, the reason for the list of things done before I found out I was pregnant (not before I was pregnant) was a worry about harm to the baby especially if I found out I was farther along then initially thought. Wouldn't have thought a simple question would prompt so many rude answers. Guess I now realize that the majority of mom's that respond to posts on this forum have a ginormous stick stuck up their asses and are only commenting to look cool (which in fact makes them look pathetic). The rest are actually trying to be helpful. Excuse me for doing what mom's do best, worry. From now on I think I'll just stick to talking to people I actually know. They're probably a lot less likely to act like a snarky know it all. God, I hate bitchy women. This is why guys are easier to talk to. They actually answer questions without the extra added bullshit. End of Rant.
