Toddler Tablets?

Let me preface this with - I cannot believe I am about to ask this because pre-child, I was 100% against it and I feel like a "bad" mommy for allowing this but...

DD is going to be 2 next week.  She already knows my iPhone really well.  She knows how to open it, scroll through pictures, go to her apps, etc.   I have apps installed just for her like flash cards, toddler songs, animals...  Needless to say, she loves it.  My MIL wants to buy her an IPad for her birthday, which I'm not allowing.  Are there any alternative tablets made just for children her age?

  • DD loves her LeapPad.  We only allow her to play with it 20 min a day, but since Christmas she has already learned all of her letter sounds.  Maybe something like that?
  • Loading the player...
  • Good to know! So far, I am considering these: LeapPad, Nabi, Kindle Fire, Vinci or Innotab.

  • We bought a iPad for DS and I.

Our DS loves all the learning games we have for him. He has picked up many words and able to identify many items.  We allow 2 - 20-30 min sessions a day.

I will say that before we bought

  • Take a look at the kindle fire, you can get 'freetime' which makes it especially for kids or just download specific books and apps for your kiddo. The kindle books are really cute and some are interactive. You also can play movies and shows which is nic
  • Don't rule out the iPad.  There are way more free, educational apps for the iPad than a LeapFrog.  We have our in an otter box case and it is pretty durable.  We have set some pretty good rules on ours - they can only play on them for 20

  • We got our DS a Samsung galaxy tab 2, the 7in version for Christmas. We also got him the otterbox case for it and it has by far been one of our best buys.. There are a lot of educational apps on the google play store, and we have "kid mode" by zoodles. It
