Let me preface this with - I cannot believe I am about to ask this because pre-child, I was 100% against it and I feel like a "bad" mommy for allowing this but...
DD is going to be 2 next week. She already knows my iPhone really well. She knows how to open it, scroll through pictures, go to her apps, etc. I have apps installed just for her like flash cards, toddler songs, animals... Needless to say, she loves it. My MIL wants to buy her an IPad for her birthday, which I'm not allowing. Are there any alternative tablets made just for children her age?

We bought a iPad for DS and I.
Our DS loves all the learning games we have for him. He has picked up many words and able to identify many items. We allow 2 - 20-30 min sessions a day.

Don't rule out the iPad. There are way more free, educational apps for the iPad than a LeapFrog. We have our in an otter box case and it is pretty durable. We have set some pretty good rules on ours - they can only play on them for 20
