One & Done: Only child

O&D Guilt

Hi again :-)

Backstory: DH and I are not decided, but we've tabled TTC #2 for now. Plan was to TTC mid-summer, but neither of us are sure we *want* another b/c we want it, or b/c we feel like we're supposed to. We also would have to give up a lot to have a 2nd in daycare. Etc etc etc.

So for those of you who struggled with the O&D decision, did the guilt go away? Do you still have it?

    I do feel guilty to a degree.  DH and I both have very small immediate families.  As in, DS is the only grandchild on either side and will be the only grandchild.  There are NO GUARANTEES w/ h

  • I think all parents feel guilt about a variety of things, but I feel no guilt for being OAD. I'm not harming my child or doing her wrong.

    Although I adore my siblings and we are very, very close, I don't romanticize the sibling relationship

  • One of the principles by which I live my life is to never make decisions based on guilt.  It is a horrible way to feel, and guilt is not a a good judge of anything.

    That's all I'll say about that.
