One & Done: Only child

Help Me Understand this Article

In this article the woman says having kids was the biggest mistake of her life:

"Two years and four months after Stuart was born, I had my daughter Jo. It may seem perverse that I had a second child in view of my aversion to them, but I believe it is utterly selfish to have an only one."

Seriously?  Can someone help me process this?

Re: Help Me Understand this Article

  • Well then. I can't even process this whole article.  I'm not sure how having one is selfish than having children when you don't want them at all, and have no shame in saying you wish they were never born. That's way more selfish to me.  Why t

  • Ugh. I hate this woman. She's so proud of how disconnected she is from her children and then goes on to judge women who go back to work? So it's only acceptable to hate your children and stay home? I feel bad for her kids if they read that article.

  • Someone told me the other day that baring health/IF issues that prevent you from having more, all children deserve a sibling and it's your duty to provide one.

Ouch.  I will never understand why people have such a rosy outlook on siblings.
