I've always loved real estate (personal homes) and have often thought that I'd make a good real estate agent. I'm in marketing, and not too thrilled with my job right now, and am considering making the switch. I have an "interview" on Thursday with an agency to discuss.
The more I look into it though, the more risky it sounds. It seems like agents' salary is 100% commission based, and being a new agent means that my first sale probably won't happen for the first 6m - 1 year...which means no income for that period of time. I've also read that new agents should have at least 6m worth of savings to live off of while getting their feet wet.
I'm also concerned that it will take up a ton of nights and weekends (up front especially), which is something I don't want to do while my boys are so young.
My question - are any of you ladies real estate agents? Any of you ever seriously look into it? Thoughts? Advice?
