Allergy testing- needles?

I am planning on asking our pedi for a referral to the allergist, my daughter has reactions to so many different things and after doing elimination diets im just having a hard time pinpointing exactly what all the allergens/intolerances are.

in your experience, how does the allergy test work for a toddler? is it needles, or is it patches they put on the skin? i have heard all sorts of things, and i would really like to avoid any painful or traumatizing experiences if possible. how did your lo react to the testing? any other information would be great. thanks!

Our allergist doesn't do the grid but rather the arm prick testing instead. It's basically the same but on the arm not the back. We also get blood work done and have both tests every six months so he's had each a few times. When he was a

My daughter did not respond well to the skin test at all. She screamed through most of it. But she was 2 at the time and refused to nap before her appointment, so that definitely contributed to the screaming. She was fine once we left the office tho
