Just curious, did your pedi suggest making a dentist appointment soon? I know some people say 1 year, some say 2 years...

Has anyone gone already?

I'm just thinking about how much T screamed at her 18 month check up...my brain cannot even fathom the amount of screaming, kicking, and tears that would come of a dentist appointment!!!

I've also heard both 1 and 2. We haven't been and will be waiting awhile. She'd have to be sedated for the dentist to even get a look in her mouth. Plus anytime my finger so much as comes near her mouth she chomps down. Hard.

My pedi recommended going at 2. But we just moved so as soon as I find a family dental place for all of us, I will see what they recommend.

I was just considering this. Our pedi said 2 and our general dentist said he will see kids at 3 (sooner if a problem appears). I inquired with a local pediatric dentist but haven't heard back.

I plan on age 2 for the pediatric

Our pedi hasn't said a word about the dentist.

My dentist told me to make DD's first appointment around age 3, but that it wouldn't be a bad idea to bring her in with me once or twice before then, so she can see what it's like.

The pedi told me to take M when she turned 1, because she had pretty much all of her teeth at that point. So I did. It really was a waste. The dentist told us to come back when she's 2.

I took L for the first one when she was three, and K went at the same time at ten months.

I believe my dentist said three. He's not a pediatric, but he treats kids. They start by watching the parent get their teeth cleaned and then look at the kid's teeth.

I've been meaning to take him but have put it off. My friend is a dentist and said really it is just a "well visit" so they are use to it there and not scared.

Our pedi hasn't mentioned the dentist yet. I did ask my dentist and he said closer to 3 unless I think there is a problem sooner.

Both our pedi and dentist recommended coming in when they turned 3 or if we had any concerns before that. Some dentists in our area have recommended coming in earlier so that the child can get used to sitting in the chair and see some of the machine

At the pedi Tuesday, they said not to take him until he was3. My mom was a dental assistant said also that three is about the right age. M hates anyone coming near his mouth, so it's not worth the fight anyway.
