How to start a baby registry for natural/attachment parents?

My hubby and I have been doing a lot of research  into parenting styles and types of learning for our future little one. But I am not sure how I would go about signing up for a registry when I won't be wanting the average things that many expecting mothers would want/need. Especially since I have decided that I want natural Montessori and Waldorf inspired toys and not the mainstream kind.

I have found many items on Etsy and am planning on cloth diapering, and DIYing some baby care items. No one in my family has had a natural birth or raised thier kids in this parenting style. I'm not sure how I would tell my side of the family or my husband's what they should buy. And I'm afraid without a registry I might get multiples of something.

Any suggestions on ways to accomplish this and perhaps even some essentials that you have asked for/used in terms of required items for attachments/natural parenting? I am completely new to this and have no one to ask about these things.

Did you set up a registry? How did you tell people what you wanted? I just don't want people wasting their money on things that I might not use or want my baby to play with. Advice is greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

  • The first questions are: When is your baby due? Has someone asked you to set up a registry/offered to host a shower for you?

Every new mom has preferences for what they want for their baby. Some people will ignore the registry.  You can say

  • Maybe I'm odd (okay, for sure I'm odd - but relative to this question) but I don't really see how a registry has anything to do with parenting styles.

First of all, I've never really seen toys on a registry, since newborns aren't really playing w

  • Through Amazon.com, you can set up a registry and add things from all over the internet. I have a button on my favorites bar, and when I see something I like I just click the button and it is added to my Amazon registry. You could use something like this

  • I second the Amazon suggestion. You can get anything. I've been to showers with Amazon registries, and I think it's easier because you don't have to shop. If you do that I might suggest doing a smaller registry at a physical store for the people who aren'
  • I think you are wa-ha-ay overthinking this. You cant tell anyone what to buy (just ask the baby shower board). The whole point of AP is that your baby really only needs you. If people buy you things you dont use, return them or dont use them.

  • Yeah I think this really silly.  I didn't get anything I registered for at my baby shower and I ended up with a bunch of stuff I didn't need and doubles. I smiled and thanked each guest for being so generous as to think of me and get me a gift. Th

  • I second the Amazon registry idea, and I also would suggest something like Cotton Babies or a local natural store's registry if you have one.

In my experience, few people followed my registries (especially online ones), but I was super bles

  • I second the amazon registry - they have a button you add to your browser (like pinterest's pin it button), and whenever you find something online, you just click the button and whoosh it's added to your amazon registry.
