Babies: 3 - 6 Months

BF Question

I know teething is quite some time away, but I am terrified of teeth near my nipple. I didn't BF with my first for very long, and I plan to go a full year this time around, which has been working out great. I just am terrified of her chomping down like I am chew toy, I mean she has done it once or twice now and it hasn't felt to good. Is there a way to train them to not do that? WWYD (STM's) when your LO bit you or did they at all?

Re: BF Question

  • I've heard lots of people will unlatch them every time they bite down. This trains them not to bite if they want to eat.

Baby bites. I remove my breast from baby's mouth, firmly say, "No biting." and then continue nursing. Each time baby bites, I will again remove my breast and say no.

Babies be smart, yo. They catch on. </

  • DD bit me once and it was because she was upset and I tried to use a boob to calm her down. Bad idea. Other than that she never bit me in 2 years of nursing. I think removing the nipple and firmly say no biting will do the trick.
