OK. Now I'm pissed.

I work in an office environment and I am management (which means I am not hourly. Technically I can come in for 1 hour of work, leave for the day, and be paid for the entire 8 hours...which I don't do of course!)

No one at work knows I am pregnant yet and I plan to tell just my boss when I am 10 weeks so at least he is aware if I'm not feeling well and I also have another doctor appointment at 12 weeks after which I will tell everyone else.

My usual schedule is 7am-4pm and the past couple of days have been hard on me in terms of sleep so I came in about 15-20 minutes late. Today my boss (who is very cool) pulled me aside and said I need to come in to work on time because SOMEONE has complained to him about me coming in late.It doesn't matter to him because I get all my work done but he had to tell me. Besides coming in late, I have not slacked at all.

I suspect it is 1 of 2 people in the office. Now, both of these people work 30 minutes less than I do and still get a 1 hour lunch. ONE of these people takes his 1 hour lunch to do whatever the hell he does, comes back, sits at his desk and eats his lunch while surfing the internet and I'm pretty sure he surfs the internet a majority of the day because I SEE IT. The other person calls in sick and also comes in to work late! To top it all off, I am paid less than everyone in the same job title and do the same job, if not more. I do more than a hell of a lot more than Mr. Lunchtime.  My boss is still working to get my pay raised to where it needs to be because HR wouldn't let me make the pay raise from hourly to management in one leap.

I don't know why they need to pay so much damn attention to what I do when I see them online, chatting, WHATEVER, and I don't care because it doesn't affect me in the least!

I am now worried to even tell people that I'm pregnant because after this incident, it seems like they're going to be nitpicky about every little thing I do and complain when I go on maternity leave.

I am so pissed I want to cry!!!

(Sorry for the less than lady like language...I am just so livid!)

  • We must work for the same company. Too many people here worrying about others and not doing there own work as well. I'm in the same position. I'm management & salary but, our new building was short offices so, I'm in a cube with the general populace.

  • I say bump them! No one can fire you or do anything to you because you are pregnant. And maternity leave is legal and thus granted to you the same way others would get medical leave!

That's good that you have a nice boss though! Coworkers can

  • Sounds like the jerks are so bored with their do-hardly-nothing work life they're watching others/you or maybe just you and telling on you like their 5. I'd honestly ignore it. If your boss really doesn't care than hes the one you answer to anyways and I'

  • OP All I meant was it would seem more professional to me to speak with your employer and have an understanding about being late ahead of time rather than just show up late and expect coworkers and your boss to just be ok with it.
