Toddlers: 12 - 24 Months

? for moms of 2 in a 2 bedroom house...

So we're currently in a tiny ranch with only 2 bedrooms. We're finishing up a few improvements before we put the house on the market, but I don't think it'll be listed til late spring/early summer, and I also don't anticipate it'll sell all that quickly.

When we brought DS home from the hospital, he was in our room for about a month, and then we moved him to his crib. He was an incredibly noisy sleeper, so this was the best solution to all of us getting sleep.

With #2 on the way, I'm sort of freaking out about sleeping arrangements and what we'll do if this one is the same noisy sleeper like DS was.

It's also worth noting that DS still wakes 1-2 times a night for a hug and will then go back down. He's generally a light sleeper, so I think having a NB in his room would be disruptive to him.

Anyone been through this? How do you deal?

  • Have a 2 bedroom, thinking of selling because we want to try for #2 but might be in your situation.  Interested to see what people say!

Ours starting sharing a room about 3 months ago. It'a actually going a lot better than I expected. DD goes down around 6:30 and is generally asleep by the time DS goes down around 7:30. He sometimes wakes up at night to use the bathroom but she usually

  • A white noise machine does wonders for blocking out noise both ways. It blocks out baby noises when the older one is sleeping and big kid noises when the baby is napping. There are so many what ifs with a new baby. I think this is one of those things wher

  • My 2 sleep in the same room (we are working on putting ours on the market too!).  We kept DD in our room for 5 or 6 months in a co-sleeper then moved her into DS room.  It hasn't been too bad at all.  He has learned to sleep through her wak

  • We have 4 rooms, but 2 are in the basement and I don't feel comfortable having the girls on a different level than us.  We kept DD2 in our room for 6-7 months and then moved her in with DD1. We put DD2 down about an hour before DD1.  Once DD2

  • My girls room share. They have since DD2 was about 3 months old. DD1 had just turned 2 at the time and wasn't STTN yet. Surprisingly enough, the girls never really woke each other up.

  • I have twins so there isn't an age difference but they share a room in our 2 bedroom home. It has never really been a problem. they got used to eachother's cries and the other will usually sleep through it if one gets fussy.  I would try what others
