Mucous plug vs. discharge

Is there a noticeable difference between your mucous plug and having discharge? I'm a FTM and am almost 37 weeks.. And every little thing is starting to make me wonder what's going on! Lol. I had a cervical check yesterday and started spotting a little, and this morning noticed a little bit of something not sure if it was just discharge or what??

    I'm not a doctor, but I say yes.  Because I had my MP come out already and it was definitely different, more solid, like actual jello, and shaped like a wine cork (but smaller obviously).

    Yes you will definitely know. I'm a FTM and I *thought* I had already passed my plug...but when I actually passed it this morning I was like "OH, so THAT'S what that looks like!...Ew"
