I guess I'm just feeling generally anxious today, but lately I've been thinking about how small Alexander is. I recently weighed him and he is 23.5 pounds, and I think he is just under 33 inches tall (he was squirming a lot). Yesterday a girl came up to him in Carter's and was trying to hug him. She towered over him and basically looked like she could eat him. Her mom and I chatted and she was 16 months old. Then another boy came over, and also just looked so massive next to him...he was 14 months old.
When you guys talk about your kids putting dishes in the sink or putting things in drawers, I know that the reason it hasn't even occurred to me to try those types of chores is because there is no way in hell he can even reach those things slightly. I get embarrassed to change his clothes in front of friends because they will see how skinny he is and I don't really want them to comment on it.
I know that nothing is really written in stone and puberty will change him a lot, but let's face it. He's probably going to be small. At least he will in elementary school. He's going to get pummeled on every sports field. I worry he will be left out or made fun of because of his size. A small girl is adorable, but a small boy is judged and a lot of times even deemed undateable (and yes, I know this is ridiculous thinking because that is probably 14 years away to worry about). But that's what I think about. Can't help it. ![]()
Anyway, I love my tiny man but I do worry for him.

Re: My tiny man.
Nate is also pretty little. He's 33'' too and 27 lbs at the pedi this week. He's getting a little chunky.
He's never been above 14%tile on the growth charts. Newbie seems to be the same. Some people are just little! He'll find his niche in lif
I know a pair of brothers who are really small for their age. One is 13, the other 11. They are both really cool. They have a ton of friends and the older one has a new girlfriend every week. The 8th grader plays bball and the younger one does scouts.
And DH is only 5'7. He had friends
O is about average. He stands at 36" and about 29lbs. He drags a stool around with him everywhere becasue at 5'10" I had my kitchen installed to be taller than normal-we have 38" base cabinets so our counters are right around 40". My
I was born at 41weeks and only 5lb3oz 17in. I was off the charts small for the first few years, then somewhere around 4 I hit a growth spurt and was the tallest kid in kindergarten (and the youngest - I have a late July bday). Just because
((big hugs)) jilly
You know I worry about this, too. I have no idea how big G is because I deliberately don't measure him. It stresses me out too much. I agree with all the pp's, though. Alexander will shine because he is
I'm part of a "birth club" from my oldest daughter, who is 8.5. When they were around this age, a group of us felt a lot like you did. We started calling ourselves the "bitty club" because our kids were the itty bitty ones. You know, 10-15% for height
Some kids are just small - and that's ok. But like others have said their growth % right now don't 100% determine how they will be as teenagers or adults.
I was super skinny as a baby, but tall. My mom said I was always 90% for height and only 5%
Well, if it's any consolation, I worry too...but DS is at the opposite end of the spectrum. I measured and weighed him last night and he's 38" and 36 lbs. People can't believe he is only two. I don't mind if people say that
DS is hovering just below 25 lbs (he lost weight since his 2 yr appt) & is my "skin & bones", as I call him, lol.
I have confidence that he has many growth spurts to come & I will be laughing at myself for worrying now when he's eatin
My little man at 0-1-2
I think your concerns are totally valid. I am sure with the wonderful family he was blessed with he will have the tools he needs to take adversity in stride. He is so lucky to have a Momma that is thinking of these things so he can be prepared.

Thanks everyone! I mean, I am always going to love him to pieces and think he's the most wonderful thing on earth, so no problem there! I will start to encourage him to use his little step stool to do things. He has absolutely NO problem climbing
