We take Payton to an in-home daycare 4 days a week, and DH has her on Mondays. It seems whenever the daycare lady takes time off, it's on any other day than Mondays and we get screwed because we have to pay her for that time off.
During the week of Christmas, she's taking the 24,25,26th off... leaving us with only the 23rd and paying her for all 4 days.
During NYs week, she's taking the 31st and 1st off... leaving us with only 2 days and paying for 4.
I suggested this morning that we bring Payton this next Monday (for the whole week) and she said that's fine IF I keep her home Jan 2nd.
Ugh. All the other kids she watches are full time and if we were full time, I wouldn't feel this way. But we're not. Would you say something? How would you approach it?
Thanks
Re: daycare - need your thoughts (long)
I think it's definitely frustrating, but if you really like her and the care she gives for Payton otherwise, I probably wouldn't say anything. Next year the vacation time will fall on different days, so it probably won't be as much of an issue then. Maybe it would help to think of it as any other job where you'd get paid vacation?
I hear you - and I don't have any good advice. It seems like when you're part time like that, you should just have to pay for the days you're there....
But, I probably wouldn't say anything myself
