Adoption

another type of adoption

i am asking for advice a LONG time before this will ever get started.

we have a DD, a little over 10 months old now. and we plan to have another in about 2 years. after that child (assuming we have a successful pregnancy) we want to adopt a baby.

we want to give another child the opportunity of a loving home. and loving parents. so, my question is where do we start?

i know the process can be VERY lengthy. and we are considering looking out of country for the adoption. although we would be open to within the USA. is there any books i should read along the way before we start the process, is there any websites for me to look at? what, if any, advice would you give someone before they start their adoption journey?

again, i know we are years ahead of our plan, for this post. but i just kinda wanted an ideal of what may happen, and what to look forward to.

TIA

  • Welcome! I will echo to check the FAQ at the top. I really like the book "In on It". While it is geared toward family members and friends of those adopting. It can give you a start on things that you may not have thought about.
