Sleeping or lack there of....

Hi ladies!  I'm new to the boards; my first time writing and I look forward to chatting with the other mommies and mommies to be out there:)

I would love to get some advice on what do to get a little SLEEP!  I'm going to go crazy!  I am so very tired yet can't fall asleep due to discomfort.  I have propped myself up in every way, shape and form using every pillow in the house, including the "S' shaped maternity one.  I was looking at 'sleepytime' teas but everything I see seems to be herbal or caffeinated.  Any suggestions?  This pregnancy is like night and day compared to my first 5 years ago.  Miserable is putting it nicely.

Thank you!

  • Had the same problem but when my doc started me on progesterone I started to sleep better. Drink chammomile tea and ask your doc if a Benadryl is ok every now then... Otherwise think of it as future preparation for mommy hood!
  • I'm on progesterone supplements, so that makes me plenty drowsy.  But my doc told me that Tylenol PM was safe to use, as long as you follow the dosage and don't overdo it.   I would check with your OB to see what she recommends.  Ch

  • My doc said no chamomile for me, but one of the allergy meds on my okay list is also a sleep aid. Diphenhydramine So some nights I take that if I'm desperate but I try to avoid meds in general.
  • I am in a similar boat. I am exhausted all day but as soon as I lay down to sleep my eyes pop open. I take the time to look at baby stuff, names and other things till I am tired enough to drift off. I figure I am going to have a messed up sleep schedule t

  • Warm milk helps me. I drink about a half of glass about a half-hour before going to bed. I also read and then concentrate on my breathing if my mind is racing. My doc who i met today said taking benadryl is fine to take.
