what to do about shoes in third tri?

My feet are killing me and swelling so much.  I wear a suit (or dress) every day.  I have tried flats and heels -- same pain, same swelling.  I sit for the majority of my day when I am meeting with clients but I do get up and walk them to and from my office door.

I have adjusted my schedule so I leave early three days per week but I am limping out to my car.  I am done from that point on for the rest of the day.  Once I get home, my feet are elevated and cold compresses.

I really don't know how I am going to go another 2.5 months like this.

  • If you are sitting at a desk, maybe you can put a paper box underneath to prop your feet on while you are sitting.

Also watch your sodium intake - the less sodium, the less swelling (at least in my case).

  • I dealt with swelling of my feet and legs with #1.  I wore compression stockings and it seemed to help with the swelling some.   I also wore crocs (I know, not the most attractive shoe, but it was wide enough for my feet and cu

  • I only wore dress shoes when someone important was going to see me. I kept shoes at my desk but as soon as I sat down I switched to flip flops or tennis shoes. My coworkers did not care and anyone important who saw me saw me in business shoes. It reall

  • Try to get up and walk around every so often, it helps with the swelling.  I second the compression hose.  They are ugly but they do the job, especially with a desk job.  Make sure you're drinking water and watch your sodium intake.&nbsp

  • I bought some cheap flats a size bigger from Target, and put some gel cushions in them and I also drank a TON of water and kept my feel elevated on my CPU or an empty box like a PP suggested.

  • Swelling in my third tri was terrible too. I kept moccasin looking slippers at my desk and whenever I was sitting, I put them on and propped my feet up. If no one was coming in the office that day, I wore the slippers all day. My employer didn't care what

  • I know what you are going through.  My feet started to swell as early as the 3rd month.  By the last 2 mos. I could not find ANY shoes to fit.  Couldn't get in flip flops or any shoes even 2 sizes larger.  I tried compression stoc

  • get compression hose; get an Rx from your doctor and buy wide flats w/ some arch support or low wedges.

  • I feel your pain. My feet were HUGE in my third tri. I bought the footstool that goes with the papasan chair from pier one, and put it under my desk. Comfy and seemed to help. I also found a pair of flats that were very stretchy/soft and that is what

  • I needed "dressy" shoes for work too and went to a Wide width and that helped a ton.  I got three pairs of wide width flats that got me through the last 3 months of my pregnancy.  Although, one day during the last week at work, I was in a mee

  • Up your protein intake, elevate feet, and walk around every half hour.  I know it sucks and I am sorry!
