twitching hands and wrists

Ok.  I'm done googling myself into paranoid rabbit holes.

So, Emery has been doing this weird thing with his hands and wrists.  It's almost like a twitching/spasmic/flapping where he holds his hands loosely about shoulder level or so and moves his wrists around sporadically and twitches his wrists and opens and closes his hands.

TBH, it's kindof freaking me out.  He doesn't do it all the time.  But I guess I've been noticing it more recently.  He did it tonight at dinner, almost like he was impatient to get the spoon to his mouth.  He fell asleep shortly after so he was also tired.

This is the closest video I could find on youtube to what it looks like when Em does it.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-JJLv-eT528   Not exact, but close.

Does anyone else have a baby who does weird movements like this?  wwyd?

  • G does this when he's really excited for his bottle. I never thought anything of it.

  • Carson does this when he gets excited. I am not concerned at all, but it does make me laugh a little.

  • My baby does this all the time.  I had never thought anything of it until my sister said something about it being an early sign of autism.  Im trying to not be overly concerned just yet, however, I am going to mention it to the pediatrician

  • Howell does this when he's exited or when he's outraged I took something away, like the stick he was trying to eat, today.

Then and now. How did my boy get so big?

  • DS has done this forever! My mom always says something about how his hands never stop. I don't give it much thought though. It seems like several of our lo's do it so hopefully that makes you feel better!
  • Cam does this too. She usually kicks her feet and almost hyperventilates, I honestly never thought anything of it, just that she was excited or being impatient.
