Preemies

Lets talk sanitizer

For those with older preemies, when did you ease up on the sanitizer and become less strict with hand washing? I know my son can't be in a bubble forever but I'm wondering when it will be ok and I can stop feeling guilty if people don't. I was furious with my
MIL who took advantage of me being really busy on Easter and didn't sanitize [shes always complaining about using that "crap"] but I'm wondering when we can relax. DS is almost 10 months old and is healthy I am not 100 sure rsv season is totally done here but almost. DS also starts daycare next week so I feel like it's somewhat of a lost cause. Thoughts?

And of course we are still shielding him from sick people and people better wash their hands as normal I just mean nicu type constant washing.

Thanks!

  • We'll still have all visitors 'scrub in' through next flu season, and probably start to ease up next summer. We only just got the green light from our neo for limited healthy visitors, anyway.

  • I still wash hands when getting home from errands (not NICU style, just antibacterial soap) and remind my DH and visitors to do the same.  We eased up a bit last summer but I still carried around a bottle of sanitizer for after touching high touch su

  • I was only really strict NICU-style hand-washing for the first three months or so. I still try to sanitize after cooking, being in the restroom, and coming back from being out in public, but I don't obsess over it. Mine is 6.5 months adjusted now, and I d
