So in all of the process of going through appealing my insurance denials, I requested my medical records from my old RE's office...the office that had horrible patient care. In reviewing the records and reading about the Hysterscopy, I was shocked to read in the records that the Hysterscopy was done as a pre-IVF assessment. The wording states specifically it was done for the purposes of IVF. We were not doing IVF at the time and had NO plans to do IVF at that time. I had communicated this to the physician. At that time, we were looking only at IUI. He told me the procedure was for medical reasons to make sure I didn't have fibroids, etc. This made sense at the time...but this is not at all what is reflected in my medical records and no doubt why it was denied by insurance as my insurance covers IF testing (and would cover a procedure looking for fibroids) but would not cover "IVF or anything done in preparation for IVF."
But now I am really mad that at least according to the medical records, I was subjected to this very painful procedure (I was not put under anesthesia) where they dialated my cervix and put a camera up there and apparently it was ONLY done to see if I was a candidate for IVF...when I had told them I didn't want to do IVF!!! (Quite frankly, it was more painful than having a baby since I received no pain medication or anesthesia.) The entire time they were pushing their $30k+ IVF package on me very heavily and giving me doom and gloom speeches and making it sound like IVF was my only option. I have to now wonder if they were just proceeding as if "Oh we will push her into IVF" against my wishes. Not only that I ended up getting an infection from the procedure and missing work and was in a ton of pain afterwards. This really makes me mad that I had to go through all of that in preparation for a procedure that I had told the doctor I was not considering...and he misled me as to the reason for it! (Or, either than, his medical records are completely inaccurate.)
Would this make you mad? I feel mad about this. In fact, I feel violated. I apparently had a procedure that was completely unnecessary (and was painful and could have caused permanent harm) since at that time I was not considering IVF...and, on top of that, they are now sending me a bill for it to the tune of about $800. I feel so angry about this...on top of everything else.

About me 2007: Started TTC. 2008: OB prescribed clomid, went to RE and was Dx with PCOS. 2009: IUI #1 w/follitsim and trigger = BFP. B/G Twins born at 33 weeks. 2012: TTC #3, Round 2 of Letrozole w/TI = BFP, missed m/c at 8 1/2 wks. Currently on the bench as we make plans for a new home. Anxious to start TTC #3 within the next year!
Um, yeah, I would be mad! I had a HSC, in conjunction with a LAP so I was put under general anesthesia, when I was TTC#1. But I had fibroids/polyps which had shown up on u/s which was why my OB recommended it at the time. At that point I wasn't even co
Used car salesman is the PERFECT way to describe this clinic and this RE!
I spoke with the clinic director and she was completely dismissive of my feelings. I left the conversation in tears. I don't even want to write about how bad it was..

Oh, and they said it was used for all IF diagnosis, not just IVF...but refused to amend their billing. Which, if they would amend their billing, would probably get the procedure covered with insurance. They admit it, but won't do a damn thi

I would be mad about them not trying to help you get it covered by your insurance. I do, however, believe that they were using it as a diagnostic test. My clinic required one prior to doing IVF but that was because there would be no point i

Oh, and another little jewel that was said was, "If you really are an attorney you would know..." and then said something about medical billing. Why the hell would I know a damn thing about medical billing as an attorney? I practi

Yes. I would be mad. They make millions every year - I don't understand why they won't just work with you to make sure insurance pays for your $hit. Why is that even a big deal?
If I were you not only would I fight, but I
I'd be PISSED. That is just not okay.
Let me put this into perspective from someone who has been to two awesome REs. One worked with my insurance company. When one of my procedures was billed they got a response back. Insurance covered a fair am
