My lo has aways cried when waking up both in the morning and after his 1 nap. In the morning he usually calms down pretty fast but his nap is awful (only 40 minutes) and he cries for at least half an hour after it. It is obvious he is still tired but he won't go back to sleep or play quietly in his room after he wakes up. His nap has always been like this. I'm starting to find myself getting really annoyed because there seems to be nothing I can do to calm him. He doesn't want up, he doesn't want down, he doesn't want to cuddle or play or eat or anything it seems. I'm just wondering if anyone else deals with this and has found a way to either get them to wake up happier or at least calm down faster.

Our 2 1/2 year old has been like this since Day 1. A couple of weeks ago, when I was putting him to bed, I told him that when he wakes up, he doesn't have to cry. That when I walk in the room, he can say, "Good morning!" And that if h
